Late Claims Payment

As you are aware, the State of Illinois is very slow in releasing funds to pay your claims for medical expenses submitted by the doctors and hospitals that you visit. They are responsible for paying, and will, but it is just a matter of time. Currently, the release time is about nine months from processed date.

We recommend that if you receive a statement showing a balance due, call the provider and explain that you have the State of Illinois group insurance. Ask them if they are willing to wait for the carrier to pay. If not, your choice is to make payment arrangements or pay the amount in full and follow up to ensure that the provider refunds that amount to you when the carrier pays.

We are willing to help you with making these calls if you would like us to help. We will need a copy of the statement, showing the provider with their address and telephone number. We will make the calls and follow-up to ensure that the carrier has paid. If you have made a personal payment, we will ensure that the provider sends a refund to you.
